The INFINITI QX50 is a luxury compact crossover that’s great for driving in the city, and for taking on a family road trip. Safety is a primary focus of INFINITI design, and the QX50 contains numerous standard safety features to help keep you safe wherever you drive. Let’s look at some of the systems and how they work.

Lane Departure Warning & Prevention

This system uses a camera and sensors to identify the lane lines then actively works to help keep your vehicle in the center of the lane. If it detects that you are drifting toward the lane boundary without engaging a direction indicator, it provides audible and visual alerts to help warn you. It will then apply torque to guide you back toward the lane center again.

Backup Collision Intervention

Reversing can be challenging, especially if there’s something behind that you can’t see in the rearview mirror. This feature uses radar to help identify potential obstructions when you reverse. It will sound a warning if you get too close to an object, and the system will automatically brake to help prevent a collision.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert

When you’re backing out of your driveway or parallel parking, you may see an approaching vehicle or pedestrian. This system scans the area behind your vehicle for approaching hazards. If it detects movement, it signals a warning so you can intervene to help prevent an accident.

Blind Spot Monitoring

A blind spot is any area around your vehicle that you can’t see clearly. While these areas are usually small, they are potentially dangerous, as you can easily miss seeing a vehicle that moves into your blind spot until it’s too late. Sensors monitor all your vehicle’s blind spots and will instantly warn you if they identify a vehicle entering one of these areas. It will also respond to the danger by helping to gently steer you away or braking, depending on the situation.

Intelligent Cruise Control

When cruising down the road, you want to be able to feel confident in stop and go traffic. With Intelligent Cruise Control, innovative tech helps to keep a preset distance from the vehicle ahead. If needed, acceleration changes and braking can get applied.

High Beam Assist

This is another standard headlight feature. High beams provide better illumination on dark roads than low beams, as they’re angled straight ahead instead of downward. Unfortunately, high beams can also temporarily blind other drivers. Sensors in the headlights identify approaching headlights and automatically switch to low beams until the other vehicle has passed you.
