How to Navigate Connecticut's One-Way Streets

There are many challenges that a driver in the Greenwich, CT area might face. One of those challenges is how to navigate our area's one-way streets. Here are some tips to follow that will have you handling this atypical traffic pattern like a pro. How to Navigate Greenwich, CT One-Way Streets Familiarize Yourself with the Area Staying safe through one-way roads and any other challenges you might face becomes much easier when you're familiar with your surroundings. This will help you anticipate anything that might come up along your route so you can prepare ahead of time. Heading out on the road with a more experienced driver can help you get to know the area without driving it yourself. Follow Guidance from Your Navigation System As well as drawing on your knowledge, you can also use modern technology's benefits to plan for the trip ahead. GPS data, as long as it's being kept up-to-date, will keep you informed of any one-way roads along your route. As long as you follow the route your navigation system provides, it should take you on any one-way roads in the correct direction. more Watch Out for Relevant Signage Road signs can help to provide plenty of information about traffic patterns around you, including warning you about any one-way roads nearby. Look out for signs that forbid you from turning right or left at an intersection, for example, as these are there to warn you that the direction indicated is only for one-way traffic. "Do not enter" signs are another standard road marker to look out for. Take a Look at Parked Cars Another sign you can use to identify one-way roads is the direction any vehicles parked on the street face. In almost all cases, vehicles are required to park in the same direction that traffic is allowed to move down a one-way road. If you're traveling in the same direction that cars parked along the side of the road are facing, you can be confident that you're heading the right way. Keep Focused on the Road While this advice applies to any driver and not just when facing one-way roads, you must maintain attentiveness when you're behind the wheel. Letting yourself focus on a text on your phone or some other source of distraction is even more dangerous when traveling on a one-way road. Maintain a clear head and keep focused so you can pay better attention to traffic patterns around you.   We can give you more advice on the best practices to stay safe on the road when you come in for a visit at our dealership. Come meet our team at DARCARS INFINITI of Greenwich today!

3 Tips for Student Drivers in Connecticut to Follow

Learning to drive can be one of your life's most exciting and stressful times. When you earn your driver's license, you know you've arrived. From then on, you're no longer just a passenger: you can legally drive. We want to give you some tips to help all student drivers who drive in Greenwich, CT. 3 Tips for Student Drivers in Greenwich, CT 1.    Don't Panic This is a piece of advice that's easy to understand but not necessarily easy to apply. When you learn to drive, everything is new. As with any skill, time and practice help you to perfect it. When you sit behind the wheel, it can sometimes feel overwhelming. It's easy to forget which way is left and which is right.   This, and other reactions, are brought on by stress. When you learn to drive, it’s important that you always have an experienced driver. Whether they're friends or family members, they'll help you with advice and guidance as you practice. It's also important to remember that every driver you see on the road was initially just like you. All of them had to take the same test, and they passed. more 2.    Practice Once you've passed your written driver's license, you have a least 90 days before you can apply for your practical test. Use this time wisely and practice as much as you can. Driving is a skill, and like all skills, the more you practice, the better you'll get. Your reactions will become sharper, and you will learn to anticipate possible situations through experience.   The experienced driver with you will also be able to help. For example, if you practice reverse parking, they can help you set up the cones and watch out for other vehicles. They can also help you with advice on anything you don't understand. Sometimes a friend or family member explaining something can help you learn faster than reading it in a book. 3.    Obey the Rules All the driving rules are explained in the Connecticut Drivers Manual. Learning the rules takes time, but the rules are important. Once you commit these rules to memory, they'll help you each day you are in your car. When you study and apply the rules, you gain confidence and become a safer driver too. Driving rules are there for a reason: they are designed to keep every driver and road user safe.   Be cautious of learning bad habits. Some drivers develop them through laziness or complacency. A bad habit may seem to make driving easier, but it could eventually result in an accident, a fine, or both. Always follow the rules to help keep yourself safe.   If you'd like to know more or choose the car you want once you pass the test, come and see us at DARCARS INFINITI of Greenwich.

How to Check the Tire Pressure on Your INFINITI

When you regularly check your vehicle's tire pressure and inflate the tires to the proper pressure levels, you will save a bundle of cash on fuel and tire replacements and be safer on the road. The following tips from your INFINITI dealer will show how easy it is to check tire pressure and keep your INFINITI tires inflated to the proper PSI. Tips From Your INFINITI Dealer: How To Check Tire Pressure on Your Car Check the Pressure on Cold Tires It is essential to check the tire pressure levels when the tires are cold. If your tires are hot, it will influence the reading. Wait a few hours after you've driven before you check the PSI. Write Down the PSI The recommended tire pressure is on the inside of your passenger door or in your owner's manual. Some cars have different pressure levels for the front and rear tires. If the tire pressure levels vary, write down the recommended PSI for each tire. more Use a Tire Pressure Gauge Using a gauge makes checking the PSI easy. A battery-powered digital tire pressure gauge displays a digital reading and is the most accurate. The analog tire pressure gauges have dial faces that point to the pressure reading, and others have bars or marked sticks to show the level. Check the Pressure of Each Tire Pick any tire on your car and remove the valve cap. Press a digital or analog tire pressure gauge firmly onto the valve stem and wait for the reading. Write the reading down next to the correct tire pressure level on your piece of paper. Repeat the process until you've checked the pressure on all four tires and the spare. You can replace the valve cap if the tire is inflated correctly. Compare the Readings Check the pressure readings you wrote down against the correct PSI for each tire. If you notice that the pressure is lower than the recommended PSI, you will have to inflate the tire to the proper level. If the pressure reading is higher, you must deflate the tire. Add Air to Underinflated Tires Press an air compressor nozzle onto the tire air valve to seal it tightly. Hold the nozzle in place for 30 seconds and recheck the reading. Add air until the reading reaches the required PSI and replace the valve cap. Release Air From Overinflated Tires If the tire is overinflated, use your tire pressure gauge and press down on the metal pin in the valve stem to release air. Do this in short bursts and check the pressure level regularly until you get the correct pressure reading. You can then replace the valve cap.   With our easy guide on how to check your tire pressure, you will ensure that your car is fuel-efficient and your tires last longer. Stop at DARCARS INFINITI of Greenwich today for a thorough tire inspection and a wide range of the top tire brands.

5 Reasons for Connecticut Drivers to Consider an Electric Vehicle

Are you feeling curious about electric cars? Here at your Greenwich, CT, INFINITI dealer, we've compiled a convenient list of some of the most compelling reasons why someone may choose an electric vehicle (EV). Read more about what you need to know when considering going electric! From Your Greenwich, CT INFINITI Dealer: 5 Reasons To Consider an Electric Vehicle 1.    No Gas or Emissions The first thing that comes to mind about EVs is that they don't need gas power to drive. That's right – you will never have to revisit a gas station. No gas also means your car won't have any emissions, so you won't spend money on fuel or time on regular emissions testing to uphold environmental standards. 2.    Less Maintenance In line with no requirement for gas, EVs don't need the same amount of upkeep as other vehicles. No requirement for lubricated parts means you don't have to keep up with regular oil changes. And in general, EVs don't have as many moving parts as standard vehicles, and the parts they have do not require as frequent fixing or replacement. Again, you're saving money and time by skipping the usual amount of maintenance trips. more 3.    Financial Incentives Reducing maintenance fees isn't the only way to save money with electric cars. Firstly, the federal government grants up to $7,500 in income tax credit to EV purchasers. Connecticut also grants $42 in savings on vehicle registration fees and offers other purchase incentives for buying EVs, so wherever you look, you'll find a way to save or get back some money. 4.    Reducing Your Carbon Footprint In addition to substantially lowered noise pollution (EVs are super quiet when you drive compared to other cars), the absence of emissions makes purchasing an EV the best current option for reducing the individual carbon footprint of driving a vehicle. You won't contribute any smog or exhaust fumes to existing pollution levels, so you'll be helping the environment. 5.    Safe and Fun Driving After all of the time and money saved, you're also guaranteed a safe and fun drive. These vehicles meet the same safety standards as standard cars, and a set of safety standards is only in place for EVs. Above all, driving one is fun! The electric motor guarantees that your drives will be marked by instant torque, speedy acceleration, and smooth and quiet cruising. It's a great experience all around.   Now that you know some of the benefits of purchasing an electric car, it's time to get behind the wheel of one to see it all for yourself! Call DARCARS INFINITI of Greenwich to schedule a test drive of one of our new or pre-owned EVs.

Safely Dealing With Road Rage on CT Roads

We've all experienced an encounter with an angry driver, and many of us have been that driver. However, drivers should avoid road rage on our local roads in Greenwich, CT. Doing this can help make our local roads safer. Here is what you can do to help. How To Handle Road Rage in Greenwich, CT When faced with an aggressive driver, things can escalate quickly. It is essential to handle the situation with care. Always try to minimize contact with the other driver, let them pass you if they are trying to, and never engage with them directly. Hopefully, the situation will resolve itself without things escalating further.   However, sometimes this doesn't work. When this happens, you may be under a lot of stress. If a driver is putting your safety at risk on the road, try to pull off somewhere safe and call for help. If they approach your vehicle, do not open the door, exit the car, or roll down your window. Unfortunately, some aggressive drivers can be very unpredictable. more How To React When You're Feeling Angry on the Road If you are someone who tends to get angry on the road, you should know that there are things you can do to manage these feelings. By acting this way, you endanger not only your safety but also the safety of other motorists. People under stress are more likely to make dangerous mistakes, and you never know what kind of driver is in the other vehicle.   If you feel like you are constantly in a rush, you may need to work on managing your time more efficiently. Otherwise, you can work on controlled breathing and other anger management techniques to help. Try to relax on the road and make your trips as enjoyable as possible with good music or an interesting podcast. Finally, ensure that you are getting enough sleep every night. Doing this will help you regulate your emotions more effectively. Understanding the Experience from Another Perspective People tend to react poorly to drivers who are distracted or otherwise disrespectful of others on the road. Slow driving or unpredictable behavior is what typically sets people off. While it is up to every driver to manage their emotions, minimizing poor driving habits can help you reduce the likelihood of experiencing anger directed toward you on the road.   On the other hand, if you are usually the one acting aggressively, thinking about the situation from outside of your perspective can help you keep your cool. Understand that sometimes people make mistakes on the road because they are young and inexperienced. Other times, they may be elderly or confused. You never fully know what the other driver is going through, and exposing them to hostility on the road is unsafe.   We value the safety of everyone in our local community. We hope you can use this information to help make our local roads safer for all drivers. If you are looking for a vehicle with top-notch safety features, we would be happy to help. Contact us today at DARCARS INFINITI of Greenwich, and let us help you find a car to drive confidently.

4 Tips for New Drivers in Connecticut

It's your first week behind the wheel. You're in Greenwich, CT: one of the most beautiful places in the country, but also one of the busiest. How do you navigate our busy roads like a pro? Here are some tips to help new drivers get started! Great Tips for New Drivers in Greenwich, CT 1.    Always Wear Your Seatbelt One of the most important things to remember as a newly licensed driver is always to wear your seatbelt. Seatbelts are not only the law in many states but can also save your life in the event of an accident.   For example, not wearing a seatbelt in Connecticut carries a fine of $92. But the ticket cost is nothing compared to the potential injuries you could sustain if you're involved in a crash while not wearing a seatbelt. Even at low speeds, the force of an impact can be enough to cause serious injuries. So make sure to always buckle up before hitting the road. more 2.    Don't Text and Drive It is estimated that about 9% of all fatal car accidents are caused by texting and driving. That is why it's crucial to be extra careful when you are behind the wheel. As a newly licensed driver, you need to be aware of your surroundings and be able to react quickly to any changes in traffic. Even if you are stopped at a red light, it is still distracting and dangerous. 3.    Keep a Safe Distance From Other Cars Keeping a safe distance gives you enough time to react if the car in front of you suddenly slows down or stops. This is especially true for new and student drivers who may not be familiar with the maneuvering required to avoid a collision. Rear-end collisions are one of the most common types of accidents, and they often occur when one driver is following too closely behind another. 4.    Use Turn Signals When Changing Lanes or Turning As a newly licensed driver, you may focus on driving mechanics and forget important safety provisions, like using your turn signal. In Connecticut, the law requires that you signal at least 100 feet before the turn. Failure to do so can result in a ticket. Beyond following the law, though, signaling is just good manners. It lets other drivers know what you're about to do so that they can adjust their speed or position accordingly, and it makes it a lot less likely you'll be involved in an accident.   There you go! The top tips for driving in our area. And if you're looking for your perfect car, be sure to visit us at DARCARS INFINITI of Greenwich. We have a wide selection of vehicles, and we'll work with you to find the perfect one for your needs.

4 Key Ways to Dealing with Car Dents and Scratches

If you're like most people, you probably cringe at the sight of a dent or scratch on your car. If you're lucky enough, you may have been able to avoid any damage so far. But eventually, even the best drivers will experience some car dents or scratches on their car. So what do you do when that happens? Read on for advice from your local INFINITI dealer. 1.     Contact a Dealer Who Offers Free Estimates If you've got a dent or scratch on your car, you might wonder how much it will cost to fix. The good news is that you can get a free estimate from a qualified dealer. Simply take your car to the dealer, who will assess the damage and give you a price. You're under no obligation to use their services, but it's always nice to know how much it would cost before deciding. 2.     Avoid Independent Auto Repair Shops You might be tempted to take it to an independent auto repair shop when getting dents and scratches repaired. However, there are several good reasons to avoid these types of businesses. First, certified dealers have a well-equipped body shop that can handle all types of bodywork. more In addition, the dealer has access to genuine parts from the manufacturer. This is important because using aftermarket parts can void your warranty. Furthermore, the technicians at certified dealerships are typically factory trained and more experienced than the staff at independent shops. As a result, dealers are more likely to do a better job of repairing your car. 3.     Settle on a Dealer That Can Handle Insurance Company Liaisons A good dealer will work with your insurance company to complete the repairs quickly and correctly. They will also offer a warranty guarantee, so you can be confident that your car will look its best. Whether dealing with a minor scratch or a significant dent, choosing a qualified dealer is the best way to ensure that your vehicle will be restored to its original condition. 4.     Look for a Collision Center That Offers Valet Service A valet service means that the collision center will pick up your car and deliver it back to you once the repairs have been made. This will save you time and hassle and also give you peace of mind knowing that your car is in good hands.   If you find yourself in a bind with a dent or scratch on your car, don't worry. 5 Bad Driving Habits Connecticut Drivers Should Try to Avoid

Careful driving is essential to being a safe and considerate driver in our community. Fortunately, the 2022 INFINITI QX50 offers standard advanced safety technologies to help you drive confidently and avoid problems on the road. However, unfortunately, many of us can pick up some bad driving habits that can put us and others at risk. Here are some things that drivers in Greenwich, CT, should avoid. Aggressive Driving You can quickly become frustrated when you approach other drivers with bad habits. However, it is just as dangerous to drive aggressively in response. It may be time to adjust your behavior if you notice that you are frequently frustrated behind the wheel. Yelling, excessive honking, and tailing other drivers can make them even more anxious and more likely to make a mistake. This could cost you time and put you at risk of a harmful accident. Distracted Driving We have a lot going on these days, and many of us need to multitask constantly, but it is hazardous to do this on the road. Avoid texting, eating, and any other distractions while on the road. An accident will only take more time out of your day and could potentially put you at risk for even more severe consequences than a little lost productivity. more Rushing As with distracted driving, we can often feel pressured to meet unreasonable time demands in our busy lives, but it is crucial to manage your time effectively, so you do not feel rushed on the road. Speeding, anxiety, and anger can all create the potential for you to make costly mistakes. If you are constantly running late, it may be time to make some schedule changes to take your time and stay focused behind the wheel. Confused Driving If you are a new driver or have traveled to a new location, you will likely become confused on the road. When this happens, you may drive more slowly, become anxious, and make mistakes. Try to familiarize yourself with your routes and destinations before going anywhere unfamiliar, and if you become confused, ensure that you can remain calm and make good decisions under pressure. Driving Hard Riding your brakes, speeding, and other harsh driving habits in your vehicle should be avoided. When you drive this way, you put more wear on your car, costing you more time and money in the long run. It is vital to drive calmly and follow the road rules to minimize the risk of injury to yourself and damage to your vehicle.   If you are looking for a safe and reliable vehicle to get you around, then we would be happy to help. Does Your INFINITI Need a New Catalytic Converter?

The catalytic converter is an integral part of your exhaust system. It removes poisonous gases from your engine and converts them into less harmful ones. Through this process, your converter reduces pollution. The converter can get damaged, and as your INFINITI dealer, we can repair or replace it if this happens. These are some of the signs that your converter has problems. Signs You Need a New Catalytic Converter From Your INFINITI Dealer Engine Misfiring If your engine starts misfiring, this can be a sign that your converter is clogged. A converter becomes clogged when it's exposed to too high temperatures for an extended period. Excessive heat passes across the converter as it exits the exhaust and can melt some of the internal structure. If enough of the structure of the converter has been melted, the resultant mass forms a blockage in the converter.   The blockage will prevent engine gases from exiting the exhaust. This creates back pressure, forcing the gases into your engine. These gases will alter the fuel-air mix in your engine and make it fuel-rich. If there’s too much fuel and not enough air in your engine, your spark plugs won't ignite correctly. You'll hear misfiring as spark plugs struggle to keep your engine running. more Poor Engine Performance When you step on the gas, your INFINITI engine should accelerate smoothly and efficiently immediately. If you're faced with barely average performance and your foot is on the gas, your engine is underperforming. There are several possible causes of this, but a major one is a blocked converter that severely restricts your engine.   As we saw above, a clogged converter will increase the fuel-air mix in the engine, reducing performance. The backflow of gases also creates additional pressure in your engine. Your engine has to work harder to overcome this pressure. You'll notice that your gas consumption will increase. Some of the gas is wasted due to the poor fuel-air mix. Once we repair the converter, these problems should disappear. Toxic Smoke A damaged converter will belch out black smoke with a foul rotten egg smell. The smell is caused by hydrogen sulfide, a toxic chemical usually removed by the converter. If you smell this chemical, your converter is working. Under normal conditions, this hydrogen sulfide will be converted into less dangerous sulfur dioxide.   A converter can be damaged due to aging, or it can be damaged by receiving exhaust gases that are far too hot. The fuel-rich environment mentioned above could cause this damage. The misfiring of a cylinder due to the fuel-rich environment could result in a cylinder of extra-hot unburnt fuel being dumped out of the cylinder and into the converter. This will cause toxic smoke and seriously damage the converter.   Your converter doesn't always have to be replaced. We can repair a converter if it hasn't been seriously damaged. Call our service department at DARCARS INFINITI of Greenwich. Our experts will examine your converter and have the problem fixed ASAP.
